I just finished reading jonathan wolff’s “an introduction to political philosophy” (the revised edition, published 2006 with oup) the book takes an interesting approach to the topic – introducing what wolff takes to be the most influential answers to key questions in political philosophy, and largely ignoring chronology the approach is rewarding, as one can. College students: this should serve as an easy introduction into political philosophy of course, i recommend also reading hobbes' leviathan, rousseau's social contract, etc however, even without those basic classical readings, professor wolff highlights the major ideas of the most politically influential philosophers into an easy to read and sometimes humourous book. This book examines the central problems involved in political philosophy and the past attempts to respond to these problems jonathan wolff looks at the works of plato, hobbes, locke, rousseau, mill, marx, and rawls (among others), examining how the debates between philosophers have developed, and searching for possible answers to these provocative questions.
